From todays patch notes: "Survivors with bear arms are now less likely to become traitors."
Seriously - what are the survivors doing ripping the arms off the bears? It just is not the way to go if you want to survive...

If you get the crate that drops a weapon you get the item "Bear Arms" which allows one survivor to wield a gun.
