Brigadier Lethe was not one to mince words. The phone call lasted five seconds.
"Get your arse down to my crucible. I have something for you"
Lori decided not to antagonize him. She was on her way back to Eldwick anyway, might as well make that the first stop.
"Well, Well, Well" he said, as she entered.
"It seems that your ancestry is 'old-school' .. You're using your godparents surname. That's why I did not realize who you were. That's probably a good move, your family has a somewhat illustrious history within the Templars"
Lori wanted to ask more, but got the feeling that the Brigadier was not about to talk about it further.
As if he was reading her mind, he said
"No. You won't get a history lesson from me. But if you're curious then there is someone you should talk to. In fact, thats how I came to know who you really are. There's a letter on the bureau up there."
Lori Picked up the letter, left the crucible and headed for the coffee shop
Settling down with a cup of coffee she opened the envelope.
There were two things inside
A picture, of a man holding a baby.
Holding her.
She recognized the setting. The only photographs she had of her parents were taken on the same day.
It was the day of her christening.
Along with the photograph was a small handwritten card. It read "One of the happiest days of your Grandfathers life."
On the Other side was an address.
It was a short tube ride away.
